With more franchises than you can count on two hands, one defunct, one on pause, and two housewives who have now gone to jail during their time on the show, it’s clear that even a show this wildly popular will experience some bumps in the road.
The Real Housewives have made stars out of many; unfortunately, you win some, you lose some. And, according to the internet, these were some of the biggest casting losers.
1. Lydia McLaughlin
Franchise: Real Housewives of Orange County – Seasons 8, 12
One user mentioned, “Lydia McLaughlin – RHOC. Twice. I can almost roll with any housewife on some level (even if solely for entertainment value). But she brings nothing, is so annoyingly meddlesome, and tries to project this sweet as sugar image. I’m rewatching OC right now and I’m at the part where her entire storyline is her husband’s vasectomy. She keeps talking about how he’s “getting his balls cut off.” She also goes SO HARD at Shannon when she has just met her and has no idea what happened the previous season.”
2. Elizabeth Lyn Vargas
Real Housewives of Orange County – Season 15
Someone mentioned, “Elizabeth Lyn Vargas. I can’t think of a single interesting thing about her.
Another chimed in, “It’s clear they were mega desperate in the OC then.”
3. Peggy Sulahian
Real Housewives of Orange County – Season 12
Someone mentioned Peggy Sulahian, “It’s even worse that Peggy was the 100th housewife. They absolutely fumbled that one. It’s the only thing I remember about her.”
Another person commented, “Either Peggy on RHOC. But Peggy Sulahian REALLY didn’t belong on reality TV. She was too sensitive and protective of her private life.”
4. Kim Fields
Real Housewives of Atlanta – Season 8
Someone voted, “Kim Fields – had she ever seen the show? It was uncomfortable viewing while she was on it. I also think giving evil Marlo a peach was a poor idea.”
“This has to be the actual worst of all time. That lady had no idea what she was getting herself into. She felt like she was from another planet compared to housewives – even the bad ones,” another user chimed in.
5. Quinn Fry
Real Housewives of Orange County – Season 3
Sadly Quinn Fry was so forgettable she barely got a mention. “Quinn? But I liked her!!” said one user.
6. Jennie Nguyen
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City – Season 2
One user remembered, “Jennie has to be one of the weirdest housewives. She just seemed like a fish out of water and to me was super annoying trying to be this tough girl. I think they realized this. Does anyone know why she left though?”
Another added, “That sister-wife storyline was so fake.”
7. Carlton Gebbia
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills – Season 4
In response to a user posting a meme of Carlton Gebbia, who was a wicchen, one user noted, “Oo, oo, witchie woman.” Another user chimed in, “Yas! The cringe was hard with this try hard. Couldn’t. Stand. Her.”
Still, another person pointed out, “Carlton saw the real Kyle years before anyone else so in retrospect I like her and want her back.”
8. Siggy Flicker
Real Housewives of New Jersey – Seasons 7-8
One user commented, “Soggy flicker. One of the most annoying and really painful to watch.” But another disagreed saying, “Siggy was fantastic casting! She was a terrible person with no concept of logic. Perfect for NJ!”
9. Cindy Barshop
Real Housewives of New York – Season 4
In response to someone calling Cindy Barshop a clown, this user defended her saying, “I’m in the total minority but I liked Cindy. I felt she held her own and wasn’t afraid to argue with any of the ladies. Her going at it with Ramona. Her and Sonja about the pecking order. Sonja savagely getting revenge by cropping Cindy out of every photo lmao S4 is truly underrated in itself.”
10. Kathryn Edwards
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills – Season 6
One person remembered Kathryn Edwards saying, “What about Kathryn Edwards? She’s a maybe for me. What do y’all think?”
I liked her, but she just didn’t work in the BH group. I feel like they only casted her because they hoped she would feud with the morally corrupt Faye Resnick, but that fell flat,” someone responded.
