Movie star Brad Pitt has won two Academy Awards and has six Academy Awards nominations under his belt for best actor, best supporting actor, and best picture. In addition to his Oscar nominations, Pitt has also won three Golden Globes.
He works as an executive producer in his production company Plan B Entertainment and gave another powerful performance when he attempted to help rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
Mr. & Mrs.
Yet despite all of his accolades, Pitt’s name is still synonymous with his very public divorce from ex-wife Jennifer Aniston and subsequent marriage to actress Angelina Jolie.
The two stars met when they played a married couple in the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Sadly, that marriage also ended in a bitter divorce and custody battle that has played out in the press for years.
Leading Man
Throughout the last three decades, Brad Pitt movies have topped the box office time and time again.
Whether starring as the main character or playing a supporting role, Brad Pitt has acted with some of Hollywood’s most elite, including Tom Cruise, Patricia Arquette, Geena Davis, George Clooney, Morgan Freeman, Leonardo DiCaprio, and so many more.
Brad Pitt Movies That Still Hold Up Today
When someone asked the internet, “Which Brad Pitt movies that were big hits when released still hold up today?” these were the top-voted answers.
1. 12 Monkeys
“Pitt should have won the Oscar for this. Hands down, without question, his was easily the best performance of those nominated. Fantastic. I’ve seen that movie a dozen times at least, and I still marvel at his performance.”
2. A River Runs Through It
One user added, “A River Runs Through It was a top quality, engaging, timeless, wonderfully melancholy film, and still is.”
Another agreed, adding, “I keep going back to it; I have watched it so many times! Magnificent cast Tom Skerritt, Brenda Blethyn, Joseph Gordon Levit, Craig Sheffer, Emily Lloyd, and of course, Brad Pitt. Perfection, and Robert Redford! Love, love, love this film!”
3. Meet Joe Black
Someone said, “Just watched it for the first time a few weeks ago — loved it. How is it so enthralling?!”
Another user added, “The book is fantastic as well — highly recommended!”
4. Interview With the Vampire
A user mentioned, “Watched Interview With the Vampire recently — still one of my favorite movies. It absolutely holds up. And young Kirsten Dunst is so damn good.”
Many agreed, with one person adding, “Seconded. It stands the test of time, and the mood is pure Anne Rice.”
5. Thelma & Louise
A few people mentioned Thelma & Louise, adding, “And don’t forget Thelma & Louise! maybe one of his first big movie roles.”
Another stated, “Don’t forget Thelma & Louise, you guys; sure it was a small role, but he was so young it makes your toes curl.”
6. Fight Club
Of course, the movie that shall not be mentioned was mentioned, “Yes. Fight Club? Well. We don’t talk about that.”
Another chimed in, “My one buddy spoiled it for me a week after it came out; I have yet to watch it and am still bummed about it.”
7. True Romance
“Dick Ritchie’s stoner roommate Floyd was Brad Pitts best ever character in True Romance. And yeah, that one has aged very well!”
8. Legends of the Fall
Lots of love for Legends of the Fall, with one user saying, “Yes, yes, yes, I adore Legends of the Fall! Have watched it multiple times. Still, remember going to see it in the theatre. And the music!”
Another plainly agreed, “Legends of the Fall definitely holds up.”
9. Kalifornia
“I watched Kalifornia a few days ago. Pitt’s performance was weird, like 12 Monkeys level, but the movie wasn’t bad. Hard to believe David Duchovny was a bigger name at the time, but the X-Files was HUGE.”
While this list includes some impressive Brad Pitt movies, it’s possible his best work is still ahead of him!
