Villains are typically evil characters that are designed to be scary or intimidating. Still, there are the occasional villains that exude the complete opposite and make us laugh instead. Funnily enough, these villains are supposed to be a challenge for the protagonist, but due to their character writing, they have become comic relief!
1. Shooter McGavin
One of the funniest villains of all time, Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore, is a talented but arrogant golfer. He fires his caddies with no remorse and will do anything to win or be better than his opponents, which includes hiring stalkers to harass them. He gives off school bully vibes in the most comedically childish way.
2. Dr. Evil
Come on, he is already known for being a meme with his pinky constantly by his mouth. You can’t get more iconic than that. Dr. Evil is the antagonist of the Austin Powers franchise. His character is said to be a parody of the James Bond villains, specifically Ernst Stavro Blofeld. But everything about Dr. Evil is made to be a mockery of villains, and he outshines Austin each time.
3. Simon Skinner
In the 2007 movie Hot Fuzz, the world gets introduced to Simon Skinner. He’s the owner and manager of the supermarket Somerfield and is an outright tease throughout the movie. He doesn’t shy away from jokingly indicating that he is the killer, with lines like, “I am a slasher…of prices!” before running away.
4. Yzma and Kronk
These two are some of the more funny villainous duos. Every time they appear on screen, they incite a chuckle or a laugh due to their ridiculous antics. Yzma is evil, but her long, diabolical rants and how easily distracted she is, mixed with Kronk’s naivete and boneheadedness, are indeed a match made in heaven. Their characters in The Emperor’s New Groove make it a memorable show.
5. White Goodman
The founder of Globo Gym and leader of the Globo Gym Purple Cobras dodgeball team, White Goodman, is an obnoxious, rude, and arrogant character. However, we can’t help but laugh at his overt displays of competitiveness, paired with his ridiculous evil laugh. With lines like “Nobody makes me bleed my own blood!” you will surely be eye-rolling and chuckling at his ridiculousness in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.
6. Hades
The sassiness of Hades outshines Disney’s animated version of Hercules. He completes the movie and steals the show with his hilarious lines, mannerisms, and facial expressions. James Woods did a spectacular job voicing the character. Sure, the ruler of the Underworld wants to see Olympus’s destruction, but that’s because he’s tired of being stuck down there. We get it.
7. Jacobim Mugatu
Zoolander is a wild, loud, and comedic movie. Naturally, it has a villain that complements that. He’s an ex-faux model who rivals Zoolander in eccentricity and weirdness. He is played by Will Ferrell, who adds extra flair to the character. From his appearance to his voice and mannerisms, Mugatu is designed to be a joke.
8. Pat Healy
A sleazy private detective who ends up dating the woman he is hired to stalk and lie to the man who hired him, Pat Healy is a sly character with highly memorable lines. He is an evil person but a very goofy one, too. His wrong actions are done outlandishly, and surprisingly, they work. There’s even a scene in Something About Mary where he drugs a dog and proceeds to resuscitate him with wires from a lamp.
9. Dark Helmet
This comes from a Star Wars parody movie, Spaceballs. Dark Helmet is the parodied version of Darth Vader, played by Rick Moranis. He wears a comically large helmet and has all the appearances of a big baby who easily holds grudges against those who cross him. At some point, everyone is his enemy, notably the protagonist, Lone Starr.
10. Buford T. Justice
The main villain of the Smokey and the Bandit series of movies, Buford T. Justice, also known as Smokey Justice, is hateful and stereotypical. He has some ridiculously mean dialogue so unique that you must applaud the writers for coming up with them. He roasts every character so quickly that it’s a wonder how his mind works.
